Promising Developments
Status Report
This feels like a pretty big week. In a few days I've got a meet and greet with the team at a promising opportunity, and maybe, miraculously, my job search will have been short and...I can't say painless in good conscience, but less painful than it will be if an offer doesn't come out of this ostensibly final video call. Here's hoping.
Since Last Time
Been learning Golang, starting with lessons from various places, trying to figure out a way back into backend programming but mostly concerned with mastering the cloud native language of choice. Settled on boot.dev and a book called Go For DevOps which looks promising but is a bit high-level for me right now. As I've often coded Python the last few years, Go is a shift but not too much of a shift. It's really exciting thinking about the tooling and scripting potential of Golang, and I'm enthusiastic about getting good at it.
The new Fallout series on Netflix is pretty good, with a real star turn by Ella Purnell and Kyle MacLachlan being perfect in everything as always(but I'm a bit biased as a real Twin Peaks diehard.) Even in apocalyptic times, some dark(ly funny at points) post-apocalyptic fare is worth checking out when it's done well.
That's about it. Crossed fingers for that meet and greet and a hopeful offer!
