How's it goin?
Status Report
It's going okay. The new gig brings with it the ups and downs of being employed after being laid-off: the strange melange of relief, excitement, just-now-processed pain and exhaustion, etc. etc.
In general, it's been a lot to process before even speaking to the onboarding process.
Some Lessons Learned
- Self-care and support from loved ones makes starting a new job, or really doing anything of substance and merit, easier and more fulfilling.
- Related, asking for help has been key. I wouldn't have landed at all smoothly without doing lots of that in ways I've resisted for years.
- Asking questions, similarly, a lot of asking is necessary along the way. Asking more questions and taking more notes were two of my big goals this year, we'll see how those pan out.
- Other things fall by the wayside in the adjustment period to a new schedule, a new gig, new Stuff. Priorities emerge, and that's okay, that's a way to learn what's important.
One day I'll link this blog to the people that help(ed) me get through but here's to them, and I'll keep it short by ending this at that.
